COMMON SQUID
Loligo vulgaris
.
Teutids are an order of cephalopod mollusks commonly known as squid. They are marine and carnivorous animals. Most squids do not measure more than 60 cm, although giant squid can measure up to 13 m.
Squids have two gills, an associated closed circulatory system, consisting of a systemic heart and two gill hearts. It is characteristic in its anatomy to have 8 arms and 2 tentacles. Squids can be camouflaged in the middle with great ease to avoid being eaten by their predators. They also have cells called chromatophores in their skin, which give squid the quality of changing color if they feel threatened, a strategy that they combine with the expulsion of the ink they produce.
