Due to its appearance, it is also called Frogfish or Pejesapo. It is a white saltwater fish. They live on the ocean floor up to more than 500 m. White monkfish or common monkfish is distributed along the European and North American coasts. It crawls on the bottom by moving its pectoral fins to be able to look for food. Its meat is exceptional, compact and very tasty. Only its tail is eaten, but the head is used for soups and broths, to which it transfers an incomparable flavor.
It has a large head and mouth in relation to the body that is conical and more cylindrical towards the tail. It has no scales. It feeds on crustaceans and small and medium sized fish. Its meat is highly prized.
